This study examined the relationship amongresilience, coping styles, and subjective well-being (SWB)among 239 Chinese university students, with a focus on themediating role of coping styles in the relationship betweenresilience and SWB and the moderating function of resi-lience in the prediction of SWB from coping styles. Resultsof latent variable modeling showed that (a) resilience andcoping styles significantly predicted SWB, (b) emotion-oriented coping style served as a significant mediator in therelationship between resilience and negative affect, and(c) resilience acted as a moderator in the relationshipbetween task-oriented coping style and life satisfaction.Specifically, for students who showed lower levels ofresilience, the adoption of task-oriented coping stylesfacilitated their life satisfaction. However, the higher levelsof resilience seemed not to further the positive effect of theadoption of task-oriented coping styles on students’ lifesatisfaction. Implications for university students’ positiveeducation are discussed
