Kunstreligion: Romantische An- und Umbildungen religiösen Wissens

No image available for this title
In its exploration of the modern differentiation of art and religion, the
›Kunstreligion‹ of Romanticism models a poetic method which appropriates and
transforms (›An- und Umbilden‹) religious knowledge. This poetic method recurs
to the biological and aesthetic understanding of the process and dynamism of »inner
life«, as well as to a genuinely romantic Orientalism. To what extent different conceptions
of authorship are also based on different interpretations of ›Kunstreligion‹
will be shown with regard to Wilhelm Heinrich Wackenroder’s concept of an ascetic
and Friedrich Schlegel’s concept of a collective authorship.
