Korea faces a unique and complicated situationin becoming multicultural. Modern Korean education haschanged several times in response to the contextual shiftswhich have occurred in the country’s demographic com-position. Given the complex social circumstances whichexist in Korean society, this paper explores how the socialideologies of patriotism and multiculturalism are presentedin Korean elementary moral education textbooks which arecurrently used. In order to do so, we particularly examinewhich groups are considered as “others” in Korean multi-cultural society. With this approach, we aim to obtain acomprehensive understanding of how moral educationtextbooks reflect current conditions present in Korea
