Factors Related to Chinese Students’ Interest in Online Groupwork

The goal of the present investigation is toexamine students’ interest in online groupwork and therelated factors in the social and cultural context of China.Using data from undergraduates from online study groups,we examined both individual- and group-level predictorsfor online groupwork interest. The findings indicated thatonline groupwork interest was positively associated withvariables such as monitoring motivation, peer-orientedreasons, and previous online courses. Full-time studentsrated online groupwork as being more interesting. Amongthe group-level predictors, ā€˜ā€˜learning-oriented reasons’’were the only one that stood out as being statistically sig-nificant. The findings were discussed in the context ofonline literature, and future research is also suggested
