Haizi and contemporary Chinese romantic poetry

The paper analyses the novel Ende gut (2004) by the german-swiss author
Sibylle Berg for the narrative representation of exceptional scenarios. The text
uses lists to present the post-sovereign destabalisation of international order, but
does not relate the scenarios of exception to a coherent and linked sequence of
events. This post-sovereign mode of telling constitutes a both semantic and functional
»equivalence of exception« which is derived from Jean-Luc Nancy’s approach
to the » equivalence of disasters « In opposition to the relation of equivalence the
unexpected ›Happy End‹ (Ende gut) of the novel constitutes a further exception.
